About Me

Welcome! I’m Jason, the main creative force behind Sixgill Woodworking.

I first started woodworking in the fall of 2023, shortly after buying our house.

My first project was a simple pine bookshelf that I learned how to make from YouTube. I’ve joked that I have a degree in woodworking from YouTube.

Eventually I’ve expanded my building skills to building custom bookshelves for our large book collection, and even made a custom filing cabinet system for all of my wife’s comic books.

And like all woodworkers, I’ve made my share of picket fence projects, and of course, cutting boards.

Every project is an opportunity to expand my skills.

In my younger days, scuba diving was possibly the most prominent part of what defined me.

Living near the Puget Sound afforded me the opportunity to dive multiple days a week for years, in a very unforgiving environment.

It was cold; it was dark.

But the sights were unbelievable. Giant Pacific Octopuses, Wolf Eels, Rat Fish, Grunt Sculpins, and of course, the Sixgill Shark were all some of my favorite animals to encounter while diving.

Sixgill Woodworking is my way of honoring not only my old hobbies, but my new hobbies as well.
